Heat rejection film from Reflectiv
A semi-reflective solar film that clings by static with no adhesive, so it lifts off cleanly in winter and goes back up in summer. Practical heat and glare control for rented spaces and seasonal rooms.
STS 160 is the solar film for glass you do not want to commit to. There is no adhesive at all. It is 90 microns of PVC that holds itself to the pane by static, applied with clear water only, so it goes up in an afternoon and comes down without residue or solvent.
The performance is real rather than token. It rejects 70% of solar energy for a solar factor of 0.30, in a metallic silver tint, and passes 20% of UVA. Rolls are 900 mm wide by 50 metres, which suits domestic sashes and shop panes better than curtain wall.
Two things to plan around. It is an interior film, so Reflectiv keeps it to clear glass from 4 to 10 mm, tempered glass and clear double glazing under about 1.2 square metres a pane. And a static film needs a clean, flat, dry pane to hold; textured or bowed glass will not keep it. Where the fit is right, the seasonal use is the whole point: up for summer, off for winter, back next year.
Which glass it suits
STS 160 clings to the inside face of clear glass 4 to 10 mm thick, tempered glass, and clear double glazing up to about 1.2 square metres a pane. It is not specified for tinted, laminated or wired glass, nor for larger sealed units. It needs a smooth, clean pane to hold, and Reflectiv is specific that it goes on with clear water only, no soap and no adhesive.
