Safety film from Reflectiv

A 200-micron PET membrane for large panes over three square metres. It binds the glazing into one integral sheet that resists tearing at 17.5 daN/cm, delays forced entry and holds broken glass in place. Rated 1B1 under NF EN 12600.

SEC 058 is the heavy version of the membrane: 200 microns of transparent PET, double SEC 054's thickness, on the same 25 gram acrylic adhesive system. Reflectiv builds it for large panes beyond three square metres and for anti-intrusion duty, binding the glazing into one integral sheet that has to be torn through, slowly, before anyone gets in.

It carries the 1B1 classification under NF EN 12600, the top tier of the European impact standard, against the 2B2 of its lighter sibling. Breaking load is the same 17.5 decanewtons per centimetre with 100% elongation at break; what changes is how much energy the doubled thickness absorbs before those limits are reached. Fire behaviour stays B-s1,d0 and UVA transmission 5%.

The install rules matter most on big panes: inside face, glass utterly clean, application at 5°C or warmer, and thirty days of patience before the first wash. Reflectiv quotes 12 to 15 years of vertical durability in central Europe. Where the design case is blast or repeated attack rather than burglary, the 3M Scotchshield range with edge sealing is the step up.

Which glass it suits

SEC 058 goes on the inside face of any normal clear glass and is sized for panes over three square metres. It delays entry and holds broken glass in one sheet; it is not bulletproof and does not make glass unbreakable. Rolls run 1.52 metres wide, so very tall panes are planned around a seam.
