Safety film from Reflectiv
A blue translucent jobsite film in 50-micron LDPE that grips by static and protects glass and polished surfaces during construction. It guards against scratches, dust and paint overspray, then removes without residue. A current Reflectiv building line, held in stock.
PTB 50 is the building-site version of the same idea as STC 900, in translucent blue so nobody mistakes protected glass for bare glass. It is 50 microns of low-density polyethylene, holding by static, applied dry to either face.
Reflectiv sells it specifically against site risk: scratches, dust and paint overspray, the three things that ruin new glazing between installation and handover. It peels away without residue, so the pane underneath is handed over as it was fitted.
Durability is quoted at two years, which is a construction-programme figure rather than a service life. This is temporary protection and it should come off when the work is done. Rolls are 1.52 metres wide by 100 metres, sized for covering a lot of glass quickly rather than for neat single panes.
Which glass it suits
PTB 50 goes on either face, inside or outside, and holds by static with no adhesive, so it leaves nothing behind. It is a temporary product for glass and polished surfaces during construction, not a finish to be left in place. The surface needs to be smooth and clean for the film to hold at all.
