IR 80 is ceramic, and that is the point: no metal layer, so nothing corrodes and nothing mirrors. A transparent blue tint blocks 82% of infrared while passing 80% of visible light, with 62% of total solar energy rejected at a solar factor of 0.38 and UV transmission held to 1%.
Reflectiv is specific about what the ceramic buys: heat reduction while keeping transparency and brightness on both sides of the glazing. That is the difference from the silver SOL films, which trade view for rejection. IR 80 is the film for rooms that must stay visibly untinted: galleries, showrooms, homes where a mirror facade is out of the question.
It is a 75 micron film on a 46 micron PET support, applied internally at 5°C or warmer, Euroclass B-S1,d0 in fire, on rolls 1.52 metres wide in lengths from 2.5 to 30 metres. Reflectiv designs it for any type of clear normal glass, and advises against mixing production batches on one project, since slight tint differences show where strips meet.
Which glass it suits
IR 80 goes on the inside face of any normal clear glass. Ceramic films carry no metal, so phone and Wi-Fi signals pass unaffected and humid air has nothing to corrode. The usual rules apply: a spotless pane, a compatibility test before polycarbonate, and thirty days before the first clean.
