An exterior IR film in a grey-blue, extra-clear tint that rejects 62% of solar energy without visibly darkening the glass. Reflectiv has retired this line; we fit remaining stock while it lasts, and IR 80X continues the clear exterior family.

IR 70X sits a step up the exterior IR range. It rejects 62% of solar energy and 77% of infrared while still passing 80% of visible light, in a grey-blue extra-clear tint that reads as almost nothing on the glass. Ultraviolet rejection is 99%.

The build is 90 microns of crystal PET, supplied on 1.52 metre rolls in 5, 10 and 30 metre lengths. It is an outside-face film, so it is cleared for every glass type, including the tinted, laminated and large double-glazed units that interior films are kept away from.

The reason to choose a clear IR film over a silver one is appearance. A metallised solar film gives more rejection, but it changes how a building reads, from outside in daylight and from inside after dark. IR 70X trades some of that performance to leave the glazing looking like glazing, which matters on a shopfront or on a facade that has to stay legible.

Which glass it suits

IR 70X is fitted to the outside face and Reflectiv passes it for all glazing types: clear, tempered, tinted, laminated and wired glass, and double glazing of any size including laminated and tinted units. As with any exterior film, the survey should cover safe access and the condition of the frame and seals.
