It has to be made for outdoor use — an interior film applied outside will not last.
Often not. Above about 45°C the useful move is to stop the energy before it crosses the glass, which means an external silver or high-rejection ceramic film on the outside face where the glazing allows. A light interior film on a west facade here will disappoint you.
