Window film in Mirpur, AJK

Window film supplied and installed in Mirpur by Protek Devices, authorized for 3M, TotalGard and Reflectiv since 2000. Heat, safety and privacy film, specified for Mirpur's climate.

Overseas-built housing, and a great deal of glass.

Mirpur is unlike anywhere else on this list. Decades of remittance from Britain have produced a housing stock of large, ambitious, heavily glazed houses — the kind of property where a double-height stairwell window faces south and nobody thought about June.

It also means double glazing is more common here than in most of Pakistan, which changes what can safely go on the inside face.

In short

Protek Devices installs 3M, TotalGard and Reflectiv window film in Mirpur. Around four hours from Lahore, via Jhelum. Commercial work starts with an on-site survey; homes are usually filmed in a single visit.

What Mirpur's climate asks of the glass.

Cooler air, but thinner air too: ultraviolet climbs sharply with altitude, and snow on the ground reflects it back up at the glass. The problem here is rarely heat. It is fading, glare, and warmth escaping through the pane in winter.

What we specify here

Ultraviolet rejection without solar rejection — a clear film that blocks 99% of UV protects furnishings and skin while letting the winter sun through to do its job. Rejecting solar gain here would make rooms harder to heat, not more comfortable.

Worth knowing

Double glazing is more common at altitude, and film on the wrong face of a sealed unit causes problems. Externally-applied films exist for exactly this and we specify them where the glazing calls for it.

Getting to Mirpur

Around four hours from Lahore, via Jhelum.

We work throughout Pakistan, and the portfolio on this site lags the work — no Mirpur install is written up yet. We would rather say that than show you someone else's building and imply it was ours.

Coverage

Across Mirpur.

We fit film throughout the city, including Sector B, Sector C, Sector F, Allama Iqbal Road and Kotli Road. Nowhere is off the list; these are simply the areas we are asked for most.

Questions

Mirpur installs, answered.

Our windows were fitted from the UK. Does that matter?

It usually means sealed double-glazed units, and that genuinely matters. Some films must not go on the inside face of a sealed unit because of the heat they trap between the panes. Externally-applied films exist for exactly this, and the survey establishes which your glazing needs.

It is cold here. Why would we reject solar heat?

You would not, and we would not suggest it. At altitude the problem is ultraviolet, not heat — thin air lets more of it through and snow reflects it back up at the glass. A clear film blocking 99% of UV protects furnishings and skin while letting the winter sun through to warm the room, which is exactly what you want.

Our windows are double glazed. Is film safe on them?

It needs care. Double glazing is more common at altitude, and the wrong film on the wrong face of a sealed unit traps heat between the panes and can stress the seal. Externally-applied films are made for this situation and we specify them where the glazing calls for it.
