An exterior silver film delivering 79% solar rejection, the strongest continuing line in the Reflectiv external range. Crystal PET at 85 microns, suitable for every glass type including large double-glazed units. Built for west-facing facades under full afternoon sun.

SOL 102 is the exterior half of the same idea, and the harder worker. Fitted to the outside face it rejects 79% of solar energy and brings the solar factor down to 0.21, because it stops the heat before the glass has a chance to absorb it. The finish is metallised silver.

It measures 85 microns on a crystal PET carrier with a 19 g/m2 acrylic polymer adhesive. Fire performance is Euroclass B-s1, d0, and the glass wants to be above 5 degrees at fitting. Alongside the usual 1.52 metre rolls, Reflectiv runs SOL 102 in a 1.83 metre width. That is worth asking about on tall curtain-wall bays, because it can save a seam.

The trade-off with any exterior film is exposure. It lives in the weather, so it takes rain, dust and cleaning that an interior film never sees, and it wants a proper look at the frame and access before fitting. What you buy for that is glazing freedom. An exterior film can go on glass an interior film is not allowed near.

Which glass it suits

SOL 102 is an outside-face film and Reflectiv passes it for every glass type: clear from 4 to 10 mm, tempered, tinted, laminated and wired, and double glazing of any size including units with a tinted or laminated pane. That is the point of putting the film outside. If the glass can only be reached from inside, SOL 101 is the equivalent interior film, with the narrower glass list that comes with it.
