Heat rejection film from Reflectiv

An interior silver-metallized film that rejects 75% of solar energy, strong heat and glare control where the film must go on the inside face. For single, tempered and smaller double-glazed panes.

SOL 101 is the classic interior heat film in Reflectiv's range. It goes on the room side of the glass and turns back 75% of the sun's energy, leaving a solar factor of 0.25. The finish is a metallised silver, so from outside the glass reads reflective through the day while the room keeps its view out.

The build is 70 microns of PET on a 19 g/m2 acrylic polymer adhesive, supplied on a siliconed PET liner. Fire performance is Euroclass B-s1, d0, the rating specifiers ask for on public interiors. The surface needs to be above 5 degrees when the film goes on. Rolls are 1.52 metres wide in 2.5, 5, 10 and 30 metre lengths.

Because it sits inside, the sun's energy passes through the glass before the film can reject it, so the pane runs hotter than it would under an exterior film. That is why Reflectiv keeps SOL 101 to ordinary clear and tempered glass and to smaller sealed units. Where the glass is tinted, laminated or wired, or the double-glazed unit is large, SOL 102 on the outside face is the right answer instead.

Which glass it suits

SOL 101 goes on the inside face of clear glass from 4 to 10 mm and on tempered glass, and Reflectiv clears it for clear double glazing up to about 1.2 square metres a pane. It is not specified for tinted, laminated or wired glass, nor for double-glazed units above that size or with a tinted or laminated pane. Those are jobs for the exterior SOL 102. Polycarbonate can outgas and bubble under any film, so test an unusual surface first.
