An embossed static-cling film with a granulated, sandblasted texture you can feel. No adhesive: it grips the glass, repositions and removes cleanly, so it suits rented offices and shops.

STC 220 is a static-cling film with a granulated relief you can feel with a hand, part of Reflectiv's 3D-effect range alongside the water-drop and pebble textures. There is no adhesive. A vitrostatic backing holds it to the pane, so it can be lifted, repositioned and refitted without leaving anything behind.

That makes it a rented-premises film. An office or shop that cannot alter the glass permanently still gets privacy and texture out of it, and takes it away at the end of the lease. It is forgiving to fit for the same reason, since a misaligned drop can simply be peeled off and laid again.

The embossed static films are PVC at 200 to 300 microns, several times the thickness of a printed decorative film, which is where the depth of the texture comes from. Rolls are 1.20 metres wide by 50 metres. Reflectiv rates its static films for glazing that is not in direct sun, so keep them to partitions, doors and shaded windows.

Which glass it suits

STC 220 holds to the inside face by static alone, so the glass has to be smooth, clean and dry. Textured or curved panes will not keep it. Reflectiv specifies the static range for glazing out of direct sunlight, which puts it on interior partitions, doors, bathroom glass and shaded windows rather than a sun-struck one. Nothing is applied to the glass, so the pane is unchanged when the film comes off.
