The current-generation Reflectiv one-way mirror, made in six finishes: Silver 500, Gold 501, Red 502, Blue 503, Green 504 and Bronze 505. Silver passes 5% of visible light; the colour versions suit glazing out of direct sun. Imported per project on order.

MIR 500 is Reflectiv's one-way mirror for ordinary rooms: clear glazing and double glazing under about 1.2 square metres a pane, which covers most homes and small offices. On the daylight side the pane reads as a silver mirror; from inside, the view out stays. The effect holds while outside is brighter than inside, which is the physics of every one-way film and worth planning lighting around.

The film is crystal PET with an acrylic polymer adhesive, applied to the inside face at a minimum of 5°C, and fire-rated Euroclass B-S1,d0, the certificate architects ask for on public interiors. In service it tolerates minus 20 to plus 80°C, and Reflectiv quotes 12 to 15 years of durability for vertical glazing in central Europe.

Ours is the colour generation of the film: silver plus gold, red, blue, green and bronze mirror finishes, imported per project. Silver is the strongest mirror; the colours suit glazing out of direct sun. Rolls run 1.52 metres wide, and after fitting the film wants thirty days before its first clean, then non-abrasive products without ammonia.

Which glass it suits

MIR 500 goes on the inside face and is designed for any normal clear glass, with double glazing fine below about 1.2 square metres per pane; larger sealed units are MIR 600's job. Polycarbonate is the surface to avoid, since it outgasses and bubbles, and Reflectiv recommends a compatibility test on anything unusual.
