Window film in Gwadar

Window film supplied and installed in Gwadar by Protek Devices, authorized for 3M, TotalGard and Reflectiv since 2000. Heat, safety and privacy film, specified for Gwadar's climate.

New build on the Makran coast.

Gwadar is largely new construction on an exposed coastline, which makes it unusual: much of the glazing is modern and often double glazed, and the marine exposure is more severe than Karachi.

That combination narrows the specification considerably. Salt rules out metallised film on the outside face, and sealed units rule out several interior options, which leaves ceramic and purpose-made exterior films.

In short

Protek Devices installs 3M, TotalGard and Reflectiv window film in Gwadar. A planned trip, arranged around the scope of the project. Commercial work starts with an on-site survey; homes are usually filmed in a single visit.

Coastal Sindh

What Gwadar's climate asks of the glass.

The sea keeps the worst of the heat off — summer maxima here sit below what southern Punjab endures — but it replaces it with humidity, glare off a bright coastal sky, and salt carried inland on the breeze. Glass that never gets punishingly hot still runs bright and sticky all day.

What we specify here

Glare and ultraviolet usually matter more than raw heat rejection, so a lighter spectrally-selective or ceramic film often serves better than a dark one. Where film goes on the outside face, salt air is the deciding factor: metallised external films corrode in it, so we specify ceramic or a protected construction instead.

Worth knowing

Humidity lengthens the cure. Filmed glass looks slightly hazy for longer here than inland — a fortnight rather than a few days is normal, and it clears on its own.

Getting to Gwadar

A planned trip, arranged around the scope of the project.

We work throughout Pakistan, and the portfolio on this site lags the work — no Gwadar install is written up yet. We would rather say that than show you someone else's building and imply it was ours.

Coverage

Across Gwadar.

We fit film throughout the city, including Marine Drive, New Town, Padi Zar and Port area. Nowhere is off the list; these are simply the areas we are asked for most.

Questions

Gwadar installs, answered.

Our building is new and double glazed. What are the options?

Fewer than on single glazing, and that is a good thing to know before anyone quotes. The wrong film on a sealed unit traps heat between the panes and can stress the seal. Exterior films made for this exist and we specify them here more often than anywhere else.

Does the sea air affect window film?

It affects which film, not whether. Salt carried inland corrodes metallised films applied to the outside face, so on coastal glazing we specify ceramic or a protected construction externally, and keep metallised films for interior application. Inside the glass, salt is not a factor.

It is humid rather than blazing here. Is film still worth it?

Yes, but for a different reason. Coastal maxima are lower than southern Punjab, so the case is less about raw heat and more about glare off a bright sky and the ultraviolet that fades furnishings all year. A lighter spectrally-selective film usually suits better than a dark one.
